Empowerment

Now is a time when women are in danger of losing the rights they worked so hard to achieve. Our rights as females are in no way secure, especially with an ominous economy and tumultuous political climate. I get upset and frustrated at the lack of female representation in my American government, at the possibility of an employer dictating whether birth control will be covered by insurance or not, at the “glass ceiling” many of us women face early on in our careers, at the undisputed gender inequalities that exist in the workplace–and continue to deepen.

Rather than get angry and sulk, I prefer to get empowered. Many of you can see that daily exercise is a source of empowerment and motivation for me. Each woman is different; here I will provide some positive stories of real-life women that are working hard to change the world in their own individual way. I firmly believe that we women have to stand up for each other. It is up to us to not let things get worse than they are threatening to become.

Rosie had it right all those years ago, in her blue jeans, sporting her sturdy guns. Stand up, ladies! GET EMPOWERED!!!
